My question is regarding a security deposit I left at the car rental company I used in my trip to Israel, which, after two months and a half, is still unpaid. The contract I signed at the end of the services show that I had an outstanding balance of 2,430.86 ILS (£521.44) from which I have only received around 150 ILS (£31.32) back.
This company still owes me almost £500 and, living in the UK, I can't keep the record of the money I've spent unsuccesfully trying to solve this. Sometimes the phone keeps ringing for 5 minutes and then suddenly drops, while the lucky times will have me been transferred from department to department with no one ever offering a solution. Sometimes I'm told to call again another day, some other times they assure they'll shortly contact me back by email, as the relevant office seems to be permanently closed, but it never happens. Actually, I had already tried to email then a couple of times and they never replied.
I was told both when I picked up the car and when I dropped it off that this process would take up to one month. After more than two months, this is beyond ridiculous and I feel totally unprotected being in a foreign country. What would you advise me to do in this case?
Kind regards,
Jared Aguilera
